Body Transformation Challenge: Weighing In!

It’s fitness challenge time y’all!

As you may know I competed in my first bikini competition a few months ago… talk about an adventure! It was crazy and awesome all rolled up into one – check out the full recap here.

I started working with my super-star trainer and Kids Versus Bikini partner-in-crime, Cindy back in May of 2017.

My weekly recaps began at 17 weeks out from the competition and I was able to bring my weight down 21 pounds! (from 161 to 140), and my body fat percentage down 5% (from 22% to 17%) by show day. Not bad eh?

Weeeeell, as happens with life I didn’t follow a reverse dieting plan and just jumped back into the swing of things. The summer was full of tons of travel, family time and fun, resulting in a bit less time at the gym.

The silver lining though? After doing all of that hard work and rockin’ my new (and better-than-ever) bod, I was hooked. It feels great to feel great!

So while I’m up a few pounds and percentage points from competition day (it’s totally not realistic or normal to stay at show-day numbers all of the time BTW!), I’m not too far away from the goals I had set for myself.

And that’s why I’m jumping into the Body Transformation Challenge that Cindy’s running at our local gym, Snap Fitness. I’m totally psyched to set and reach some new goals!

The Challenge

The Body Transformation Challenge is 8 weeks long with two categories for winning (we’re all winning though, right?!):

  • Percentage of weight lost
  • Body fat loss

We’ll have access to weekly workouts, be able to cheer each other on in a private Facebook group and get some good info from Cindy in the form of healthy recipes and diet pointers. Sounds super fun, no?

Getting Started

If you followed along with my competition prep update posts then you know I’m a big fan of being able to tangibly measure my progress.

Here’s a snapshot of where I’m starting this challenge at in pictures:

I take weekly progress photos with my phone, so I can physically see my progress during the challenge.

Left: I weigh myself weekly using an old digital scale from my days working for Jenny Craig (here’s a similar one)I’ve always had a strong interest in health and fitness and helping others become their best selves.

Right: I use my Omron fat loss monitor to assess my body fat percentage each week. We also use calipers from time-to-time at the gym.

Challenge Goals

I weighed in the day before my bikini competition at 140.8 – exactly 10 pounds lighter than I am right now.

At a minimum I’d like to take those 10 pounds back off. It’d be great if I could get down to 138. Of course, my body will need to want to cooperate, but I think it’s doable.

I’m up about 3% body fat. It’d be great to get that back down too. 🙂

So not crazy goals, but just a nice chance to refresh and reset.

What happened this past week:

Not much!

I’ve been working out 3-5 days a week for the last month or two, which feels good. My diet has been so-so, but I totally binged on some Chinese food and a Butterfinger Blizzard on Sunday prior to the challenge starting.

Go out with a bang, right? 😉

What’s coming up this week:

Since this is the 1st week of the 8-week challenge, my main plan is to get in at least 5 workouts (6 would be ideal) and get my diet in check.

I was supposed to be traveling this week, but my plans have changed. This means I’m free to rock my normal schedule, which also means my workouts and diet shouldn’t be overly challenged.

Luckily, I’ve been through this before too, so I *know* what I’m doing. Now whether or not I follow through… that’s on me! 😉

How about you?

What health and fitness goals are you working on? Tell us all about it in the comments, so we can cheer each other on!
